- Document Library: **Access Control** settings per library — choose **Everyone (public)**, **Logged-in users only**, or **Specific user roles only**. Public remains the default, so existing libraries are unchanged
- Document Library: **Allowed roles** picker listing every role registered on the site, including custom roles added by membership plugins or code — new roles appear automatically with no update needed
- Document Library: **Restricted access message** field to customise the text shown on the page when a visitor cannot view a library; leave empty to use the default
- Document Library: restricted libraries serve every file through a protected download link, so direct `wp-content/uploads` URLs are no longer exposed in the page or the REST API
