How we handle copyright takedowns under the DMCA.

Last updated: April 2026

GPLCoffee respects intellectual property rights. This page describes our policy for handling copyright claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

1. GPL Distribution

All Products on GPLCoffee are distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2 or later. Under the GPL, these products may be legally redistributed. However, we take all copyright claims seriously and will investigate promptly.

2. Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you believe that content on GPLCoffee infringes your copyright, please submit a notice via our help page with the following information:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
  2. Identification of the material on GPLCoffee that you claim is infringing, with sufficient detail to locate it (e.g., product name, URL).
  3. Your contact information (name, address, phone number, email).
  4. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

3. Our Response

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:

  • Promptly remove or disable access to the identified material.
  • Notify the uploader or content source of the takedown.
  • Maintain a record of the takedown for compliance purposes.

4. Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed in error (e.g., because it is properly GPL-licensed), you may file a counter-notification with:

  1. Identification of the removed material and its location before removal.
  2. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  3. Your name, address, phone number, and a statement consenting to jurisdiction.
  4. Your physical or electronic signature.

5. Repeat Infringers

We maintain a policy of terminating access for repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

6. Note on GPL Software

WordPress plugins, themes, and PHP scripts that build on WordPress are required by WordPress.org policy to be GPL-licensed. The GPL explicitly grants the right to redistribute. If a product is GPL-licensed, redistribution is not copyright infringement under the GPL. However, we will still review all claims in good faith.
