The Customer Email Verification extension helps store owners to reduce registration spam and fake orders by requiring customers to verify their email address when they register an account or before they can check out on your store.
Why use this extension?
Avoid Account Registration Spam – require email verification from customers that register an account on your store or membership site and prevent access to the account area from customers that sign up with fake email addresses just to check around or to get the free trial access.
Avoid Fake Orders – Validating the email before the order can be placed is extremely useful when you sell digital products, memberships and offer free trials, free products and samples.
Avoid Bouncing Emails – avoid bouncing of undelivered “new account” and order emails due to typos in the email address. The new account emails are delayed until successful verification.
Fully Customize the Email Verification workflow – Personalize and edit the content of the verification workflows and customize the design of the verification popup overlay using a customizer with a live preview.
Easily manage and delete Unverified customers – you can easily verify or resend the verification email to customers from the users admin, you can also delete all unverified customers at once or schedule auto-delete unverified customers after a certain time from when the account was created.
How it works?
You can choose between 2 verification workflows, Registration and Checkout. Depending on your business needs, you can activate just one of the workflows, or activate both.
Email Verification Workflow – Registration
Require customers to verify their email address when they register for a Customer Account:
- When a customer sign up for an account in your store, the account is flagged as Unverified Email
- The verification popup will display on all account pages and will allow the customers to enter a verification code to verify their email and activate their account to access the account area.
- The verification code and a verification link are sent to the new customer email address and they can verify their email by entering the verification code or by clicking on the Verification link in the email.
- Once a customer verifies the email address on the account and will be redirected to the account dashboard (or any other page you choose) , and the Customer account will be flagged as Verified Email.

- Added a one-time notice introducing AI Agent OS from zorem, with a launch offer. It is shown to store managers outside the plugin's own screens, can be dismissed, and goes away when the offer ends or once AI Agent OS is installed.
- The Unverified Users list, the Maintenance statistics and the daily unverified-account cleanup are now much faster on stores with a large number of abandoned signups, thanks to new database indexes added automatically on update.
- The Settings page no longer times out on large stores. The number of accounts eligible for auto-delete on the Maintenance card is now counted in the background after the page has loaded, and the cleanup checks customer orders in batches instead of one customer at a time.
- Smart Form sign-in with an email or SMS code now sends a fresh code every time the customer clicks Sign in. Previously only the first code was sent and later requests were silently skipped, so customers could not log in. The "Resend code" link follows the Verification Email Resend Limit and shows the resend-limit message when it is reached.
- Changing the account email address on the My Account page now verifies correctly. The emailed code always matches, pressing Enter in the code field verifies it instead of sending another email, and a new email is not sent while a valid code is still waiting to be entered.

- Added a setup checklist to the top of the Settings tab that walks you through getting started: turning on signup and checkout verification, sending yourself a test verification email, customizing the email and popup, enabling disposable email blocking and reviewing the Unverified Users list. It hides itself once every step is done, or you can hide it at any time.
- Added a "Leave a review" card to the Settings sidebar and a one-time review request notice that can be dismissed.
- Only store managers can now change a customer's verification status, delete Unverified Users entries or save the plugin settings. Customers viewing their own profile see their verification status only, without the verify/unverify buttons.
- Email and popup previews in the customizer are now available to administrators only.
- Spam Protection now shows the correct size of the built-in disposable email list (430+ domains), and the "available variables" hint in the customizer can now be translated.

- Smart Form registration now runs WooCommerce's own registration checks before the verification code is sent, so problems such as an email address already being in use are reported immediately instead of after the customer has entered their code.
- Custom fields added to the Smart Form registration are now available to WooCommerce and other plugins while the account is being created, so values such as phone or company are stored against the new account correctly.
- Customers are now returned to the page they originally requested after signing in or registering through the Smart Form, instead of always being sent to the account page.
